From Inmarsat-M mobile terminals, it is possible to use not only telephone but also facsimile and data communications (all operating at maximum speed of 2400 bps).

Usage
The procedure for using KDDI Inmarsat service from Inmarsat-M mobile terminals is as follows:

1.  Switch on the power, and point the antenna towards the Ocean Region satellite serving your location.
2.  Dial "003#", the KDDI LES (Land Earth Station) Code.
3.  Dial "00", the code for Automatic Dialing Service.
4.  Then dial either the telephone number or telex number beginning with the appropriate country code. When making a transmission to other Inmarsat mobile terminals, dial the Ocean Region code and the equipment ID number.
5.  Finally dial "#".

"Auto-Routing" functionality now enables users to have communications automatically routed to any ocean region by simply selecting the Universal Ocean Region Code "870" and determine the ocean region where the destination terminal is located.

This function is unavailable for communication to Inmarsat-A mobile terminal.

When sending a facsimile transmission to an Inmarsat-A mobile terminal, please dial "81" between the Ocean Region code and ID number.

In addition to the Automatic Dialing Code (00), various other services can be used by using the following codes.

KDDI Land Earth Station (LES) can be used from all four ocean regions (POR, IOR, AOR-W, AOR-E) by entering LES code "003" The rates are the same for calls from all these ocean regions.
Discount rate periods for each ocean regions are as follows:
Pacific Ocean Region 04:00-12:00 JST (19:00-03:00 (following morning) UTC)
Indian Ocean Region 04:00-12:00 JST (19:00-03:00 (following morning) UTC)
Atlantic-East Ocean Region 07:00-15:00 JST (22:00-06:00 (following morning) UTC)
Atlantic-West Ocean Region 08:00-16:00 JST (23:00-07:00 (following morning) UTC)
