The IRIDIUM service offers a satellite-telephone service covering the entire globe. As a communication tool that can be used anywhere overseas, or as a way of domestic communicating in Japan in a time of emergency, various usage scenarios can be expected.

The INMARSAT service offers phone or Internet communications by using INMARSAT geostationary satellites. It enables communication between onshore stations and ships at sea, or with mountainous areas and devastated areas where there is no communication facility.
