In the past, telephone connections were mediated by the communication equipment of a relaying telephone company selected through My Line and NTT East/NTT West. Therefore, NTT East/NTT West's basic charge and payment to the relaying telephone company were required. For the Metal Plus telephone, KDDI provides the part equivalent to the telephone line subscribed to NTT East/NTT West, enabling a cheaper basic charge than before (excluding Class 1 Service Area for residential use). In addition, we offer a more reasonable and simple charge system than before for call rates by reducing costs through the usage of KDDI's unique high-quality IP network.

 How is the quality? |

Metal Plus telephone is a telephone service using KDDI's high-quality IP network. It enables call quality and stability comparable to conventional calls while making emergency calls possible.

 Is it possible to get a new telephone line? |
|
 |

Yes, it is possible. Although you need to pay 72,000 yen (75,600 yen including tax) as a telephone facility setup fee (subscription right) to subscribe to NTT East/NTT West, KDDI Metal Plus does not charge such a fee. However, you need to pay a new line installation work fee separately. As for telephone numbers, KDDI provides a new telephone number starting with an area code.

 Is the Metal Plus telephone usable during a blackout? |

 |

Yes, it is. Even if you use a telephone that requires a power source, Metal Plus is usable. However, answering machine and fax functions may not be usable in some cases.

 What happens when we dial a telephone number by adding another company's access number (carrier identification number) at the beginning of the number? |

 |

Please note that, with regard to services available through the Metal Plus telephone, such as local, long-distance and mobile calls and international automatic dialing, even when another company's business identification number is added, calls are considered as the usage of KDDI Metal Plus telephone service and its call rates apply.

 Can calls be made to toll-free numbers? |

Calls can be made to toll-free numbers, Navi Dial and KDDI Free Call numbers in the same way as before. However, you may not be able to call some numbers.

 Can calls be made to IP phones ("050")? |
|
 |

Almost all calls through IP phone service carriers are possible.

 What kind of additional services do you offer? |
|
 |

We offer "touch-tone signal (touch-tone line)" as a standard service. Additionally, "call waiting", "caller ID display (number display)", "caller ID request (number request)" and other services are available at extra charge (for details, see "KDDI Metal Plus (for Businesses)" charges).

 Can we continue the current contract for our ADSL service (Internet 24-hour connection)? |

 |

An ADSL service (Internet 24-hour connection) other than the one provided by KDDI is not usable. If using another company's ADSL, please be sure to cancel it because you cannot continue it. In addition, if using a DION ADSL course other than Metal Plus Net DION ADSL 50, it is necessary to change to Metal Plus Net DION ADSL 50.

 What shall we do with the NTT East/NTT West telephone lines we have been using? |

In the case of a switchover from NTT subscribed phones, it is necessary to either cancel or suspend the usage of NTT East/NTT West's lines.
In this case, upon your subscription to the Metal Plus phone, KDDI carries out the procedures for cancellation or suspension for you. If you currently have a telephone subscription right, NTT lines will be suspended, and if you do not have the subscription right (in the case of the "Subscriber Telephone Light Plan" contract, etc.), we will cancel the lines for you. (Customers do not need to carry out the cancellation or suspension procedures.)

When you do not have the NTT East/NTT West's telephone subscription right, NTT lines are canceled. However, the current telephone numbers can be continued.

Cautions
As for the suspension of the telephone subscription right, please note the following.

Suspension fee: A suspension work fee of 2,000 yen (2,100 yen including tax) is seperately charged by NTT East/NTT West.

Suspension notice letter: Customers will receive a suspension notice letter from NTT East/NTT West. Please keep it in a safe place as this letter will be necessary upon resuming the usage of NTT East/NTT West.

Usage suspension period: As a rule, the period of suspension of the NTT East/NTT West subscription is five years. However, you can extend it to six years or longer by notifying NTT East/NTT West. Please note that you may lose your subscription right if you do not report the extension. For details, contact NTT East/NTT West.

 Can we continue to use the same telephone number provided by NTT East/NTT West? |

 |

Our number portability system allows the continuous usage of your current telephone numbers. However, this is limited to the cases that meet the following conditions.

The telephone numbers must be the ones assigned to the switchboard compatible with number portability.

 |
The telephone numbers must be the ones connected to general subscribed phones (telephone service) or Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) provided by NTT East/NTT West.
|
 |
The telephone types designated by NTT East/NTT West must not be public phones, temporary phones and branch representative phones.
