KDDI is a one-stop provider of global ICT solutions. Via a wide-area, high-capacity optical fiber network that extends throughout the world, we provide "KDDI Powered Ethernet" wide-area Ethernet services, IP-VPN and other network services, "TELEHOUSE" brand data centers, high-end overseas area networks and global system integration. KDDI supports the overseas business development of Japanese companies with the highest-quality ICT solutions the world has to offer. In China, Hong Kong and other parts of Asia, we are developing cloud services by Hong Kong's DMX Technologies Group. We are promoting WiMAX and data center businesses in developing countries as well.
KDDI's global data center brand, "TELEHOUSE," has earned kudos from customers around the world for its high levels of reliability and service quality. Since commencing service in 1989, we have steadily expanded the number of locations, which currently totals 23 sites at 14 cities in 11 regions overseas and 21 sites in 9 Japanese cities. In line with the rapid influx in recent years by Japanese, European and U.S. companies, we have expanded our number of sites in the markets of Greater China, including China and Hong Kong. We currently provide ICT solutions to a global standard via five sites in the three cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. "TELEHOUSE" is core to KDDI's ICT solutions, which support seamless and one-stop solutions from network configuration and server purchases to app delivery, operation and maintenance, and security monitoring.
The "KDDI Global Content Accelerator" is a content distribution service that employs a content delivery network operated by subsidiary CDNetworks Co., Ltd., spanning more than 80 cities in 30 countries. The majority of traffic is handled by distribution services scattered throughout the world, serving websites at high speeds, stably and at higher reliability, while reducing server loads. We address customers' Web-related issues in a variety of ways, providing comprehensive services such as the China Acceleration service for distribution of content in China. This service realizes optimized, high-speed communications through DNS servers distributed throughout the world and using a proprietary platform at 25 locations in China.
KDDI provides high-quality, seamless global network services in more than 170 of the world's countries and regions. We ensure network reliability in each country and region through optimally arranged communication channels, route redundancy and dispersed facilities. In January 2012, through an agreement with Rostelcom, Russia's long-distance telecommunications operator, we began providing a 10Gbps wavelength service between Japan and Europe. Via the Russia-Japan Cable Network (RJCN) of undersea optical cables between Japan and Russia and Rostelcom's TEA and TEA2 optical cable networks between Russia and Europe, this service takes the shortest route between Japan and Europe. The result is high-volume content and real-time bidirectional communication at an affordable price.
