Preserving and promoting awareness of communications history

Museum of International Telecommunications History
The Museum of International Telecommunications History, located in our Oyama Network Center in Tochigi prefecture, exhibits and narrates the history of international telecommunications, from its start to the world of today, crisscrossed with telecommunications satellites and undersea fiber-optic cables, through yearbooks, photos, and actual artifacts. The museum gives a close-up look at the development and history of 130 years of international telecommunications.

KDDI Parabola Hall
KDDI Parabola Hall is built alongside the giant parabolic antenna at Yamaguchi Earth Station. This facility makes the world of communications come alive, enabling everyone from children to adults to have fun learning about international communications with countries around the world using communication satellites, communications with ships and aircraft, communications via undersea cables, and more, with both visual and hands-on interaction.

Contributions to art and culture

Relaying video from the Turin Olympics to Japan
In February 2006, we were responsible for all relaying of the first-ever all high-vision video from the 20th Winter Olympic Games held in Turin, Italy.
It is difficult to achieve beautiful contrast against the glaring white backdrop of winter sports, as many of the games, such as alpine skiing and skating, have extremely rapid movement. The quality of our transmission met harsh requirements that the winter Olympics demand, and clear video that can keep up with the speed of the athletes, especially in those clutch moments made the many viewers to enjoy a sports spectacle that only happens once every four years.

Sponsoring performances and artistic events
We supported the promotion of the performing and fine arts, and helped enrich and broaden interpersonal communication, through the sponsorship of the following international events.

We were special sponsors to "KDDI ALEGRIA2", performed from October 2004 to November 2005 in Tokyo and three other cities around Japan celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Cirque Du Soleil Super Circus.
We sponsored "Dresden: Mirror of the World - The State Art Collections", held in Hyogo and Tokyo prefectures from March to September 2005.
We provided our third special sponsorship for the Japan tour by the world-renowned Metropolitan Opera Company (in Tokyo, Nishinomiya, Nagoya, and other cities) in June 2006.
