The problem of spam (unsolicited commercial email) has grown so invasive that we are all aware of its menace.
We offer a wide range of measures to enable our customers to block unwanted email themselves, including a highly configurable email filter, as well as providing a "Pamphlet on Mobile Phone Securit" ("Keitai-Anshin Book") to improve their awareness.

We also take other measures, including setting restrictions on senders to prevent them from sending high volumes of email at one time.
In November 2005, we added/improved two commands, "Easy Setup" and "Rejection Notification Setup" on the EZweb mail-filter menu that make our spam-blocking features easier to use. These measures have reduced the volume of spam circuited via the KDDI (au) mail system that our customers received in fiscal 2005 by about 97% from a peak of about 130,000 in fiscal 2004.
In March 2005 a partnership of major Japanese providers and mobile-phone carriers established the Japan E-mail Anti-Abuse Group (JEAG). In November 2005, as part of a JEAG initiative, we carried out "outbound port-25 blocking" in order to combat spam directed at mobile-phone users from the DION internet connection service, As a comprehensive telecommunications carrier, we remain actively committed to enhancing measures against spam and other malicious use, and will continue to strive to offer secure and enjoyable Internet services.
