KDDI Adds Movie Mail-compatible A5305K with Innovative Swivel Design to 3G Mobile Lineup

Tokyo, Japan, April 22, 2003 - KDDI Corp. and Okinawa Cellular recently announced their plans to launch sales of the new Movie Mail-compatible handset A5305K in mid-May of this year. Manufactured by Kyocera Corp., the handset allows users to shoot and send seamless movies and is part of a new lineup of third-generation mobile phones (CDMA 2000 1x), a format that enables high-speed data transmission of up to 144 kbps.
The A5305K comes in a stylish, innovative design, providing a new feel for users. Unlike conventional clamshell-type handsets, the main display side slides back and forth and can swivel 180 degrees.
Thanks to this swivel design, almost all operations—calling, email, EZweb—can be performed while the handset is closed. Additionally, by using the main display as the viewfinder, users can shoot still and video clips using both hands like a regular digital camera, minimizing shaking.
With the addition of the A5305K, there are now seven Movie Mail-compatible handsets and a total of 18 CDMA 2000 1x mobile phones.
