KDDI Announces Broad International Roaming Expansion
—"GLOBAL PASSPORT" to Further Roll Out in Canada and the United States through Alliances with Sprint PCS and ALLTEL—

Tokyo, April 22, 2004—KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have announced a broad expansion of the "GLOBAL PASSPORT" international audio roaming service with further roll outs in Canada and the United States from May 1 this year in association with Telus, Sprint PCS and ALLTEL. Metropolitan areas to benefit from the roll out in Canada include Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, while Dallas, Miami and New Orleans will be the first of as many as 260 additional American cities included in the new plan.
The "Global Passport" international roaming service area, having grown to include some 400 American cities since July 2000 through a cooperation with Verizon Wireless. The new alliances with Sprint PCS Group (Sprint Corporation) and ALLTEL (ALLTEL Communications Inc.) will bring every American state online, with the exception of Alaska, and raise the service area to approximately 660 cities.
"Global Passport" audio roaming service is presently available in 18 western Canadian cities through cooperation with Telus Corporation. This expansion calls for expansion of service to the east provinces of Ontario and Quebec, and will raise the service area in the country to 32 cities in all.
Each of the new partners will offer CDMA2000 1x and cdmaOne (1900MHz band) services.
