KDDI Introduces Rate Cuts to Packet Discount CDMA 1X WIN Services; "EZ Double-Flat" System to Debut in August
KDDI and Okinawa Cellular Telephone are pleased to announce reductions in the "EZ Flat" fixed rate service, which will debut on August 1 as the new two-tiered "EZ Double-Flat" service, as well as reduced Packet Discount WIN service rates for CDMA 1X WIN. Current EZ Flat service users can enjoy the new Double-Flat service without having to apply.
The new two-tiered Double-Flat service is designed so that CDMA 1X WIN users currently paying a monthly flat rate of ¥4,200 (¥4,410 including consumption tax) for unlimited use of the EZ Web e-mail service, which combines e-mail and full web access (a mobile phone industry first) need now pay only a first-tier ¥2,000 (¥2,100 including consumption tax) for the service if packet transmission does not exceed 40,000 packets per month.
Packets will accrue at ¥0.05 to 84,000 packets. The current flat rate of ¥4,200 will then apply as a fixed second-tier service fee for an unlimited numbers of packets after 84,000. Thus the new name Double-Flat service, which KDDI hopes will invite an even broader base of customers to enjoy the company's hallmark "Flat Rate Networking Lifestyle."
Monthly cost of the Packet Discount WIN service will also be reduced with the flat-rate price falling from ¥1,200 (¥1,260 including consumption tax) to ¥1,000 (¥1,050 including consumption tax) and the per packet charge reducing from ¥0.1 (¥0.105 including consumption tax) to ¥0.08 (¥0.084 including consumption tax).
