KDDI's "Global Passport" International Roaming Service Ties Up with Canada's Bell Mobility Corp.


KDDI and Okinawa Cellular, providers of the "GLOBAL PASSPORT" international voice roaming service which provides overseas as well as domestic use with a single mobile phone, have announced a tie-up with Canada's Bell Mobility Corporation from July 15 of this year.
Through their partnership with Telus Corp., voice roaming is currently available in 32 cities. With closing of the new tie-up with Bell Mobility, "GLOBAL PASSPORT" voice roaming services will be available in 38 cities, including Niagara Falls, and Hamilton.
The "GLOBAL PASSPORT" international roaming service is currently available in 12 countries and regions, including Korea (voice, packet), the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, China, Thailand and Taiwan, as a result of cooperative service agreements with 12 providers. The service area will continue to expand, with preparations underway for tie-ups with CDMA providers in all countries offering CDMA.
