BT and KDDI Announce Strategic Partnership on Global Managed Network Services and Global Outsourcing

BT and KDDI have come to agreement on a strategic partnership on global managed networking services, as well as on global outsourcing.
With this, we can respond to our customers' global requirements on data services and outsourcing by offering services with higher quality and more value added services.
BT will also be able to make the most of the strategic partnership with KDDI in Japan for the business here, and KDDI will be better able to meet their Japanese multinational customer's global telecommunication needs wherever they are through BT's global services together with its own network.
The agreement is subject to BT's acquisition of Infonet which, in turn, is also subject to regulatory approval.
Details are as follows:

KDDI will become BT's strategic partner and make use of BT's global services, together with KDDI's own network, to meet KDDI customers' requirements
KDDI will be BT's primary distributor for sales of managed network services in Japan, and will be a supplier to look after elements of BT's network in Japan
KDDI will send some senior staff over to BT in the areas of service development and network operations, and reflect KDDI customers' needs on BT global services
In global outsourcing, where the demand is expected to increase in the future, KDDI and BT will also act together as strategic partners. As a first step, KDDI will work with BT on BT's customer needs in Japan, and BT will assist in serving KDDI's customer needs outside Japan.

KDDI will sell its stake in Infonet to BT as a part of BT's acquisition of Infonet and, in parallel, BT and KDDI will work together on establishing the equity relationship to strengthen the partnership for new outsourcing business opportunities.
As a second step, BT and KDDI are looking into future outsourcing business opportunities to expand such business to other parts of Asia Pacific.
