KDDI Adds "Hikari Plus Home" for Single-family Homes to "KDDI Hikari Plus" Service Lineup <Attachment>

Overview
"Hikari Plus Home" uses GE-PON technology, which splits 1 Gbps [1] super high-speed optical signals into multiple signals. By laying down fiber optics directly within the customers' residence, the super high-speed broadband service transmits data at a maximum speed of 1Gbps to the optical network unit (ONU) in the customers' residence and at a maximum speed of 100Mbps from the ONU to the customer.

GE-PON (Gigabit Ethernet-Passive Optical Network) is one type of PON technology that shares a fiber optics line among multiple users by splitting the optical signals. By adopting Gigabit Ethernet, the Ethernet frame can be transmitted and received as is from the base station to the residence (in compliance with IEEE802.3ah).

Service Coverage
This service is available to customers residing in single-family homes and condominiums standing two floors or less. Unlike "Hikari Plus Mansion," the service for condominium residents, customers can apply for a single contract.

Hikari Plus Phone in "Hikari Plus Home" Service
Hikari Plus Phone is an IP telephony service that provides the same basic level of functionality available through normal phone lines. Users can make a normal domestic phone call at a low rate, and can also call emergency numbers (110 for police, 118 for the Japan Coast Guard, 119 for the fire department), as well as mobile phones and PHS.[2]
For a fee of 150 yen/month (157 yen/month with tax), customers can phone 050 IP telephony numbers. This enables customers to call Hikari Plus Phone users (050 number users), users of KDDI-IP telephony services and users of IP telephony services from other ISPs allied with KDDI without charge.
Users of Hikari Plus Phone can keep their current phone numbers and handsets.[3]

This is made possible by the number portability system. In this case, users' subscription contract with NTT East and NTT West will be suspended, and users are charged a one-time fee of 2,00 yen (2,100 yen with tax) for technical costs associated with the subscription suspension. |

Other Service Conditions
Hikari Plus Phone optional services and conditions for Hikari Plus Net DION and Hikari Plus TV other than those stated above are the same as the original KDDI Hikari Plus. (Please refer to reference materials.)

| 2. Campaign |

KDDI will offer the following campaign at the start of its Hikari Plus Home services.
Customers signing up for Hikari Plus Home by March 31, 2005 will be exempt from the initial charge of 30,000 yen (31,500 yen with tax) and the fixed monthly charges for each service will be free for a maximum of two months.
Calls to Hikari Plus Phone users will be free until March 31, 2005.
Hikari Plus Phone's optional charge of 150 yen/month (157 yen/month with tax) will be free until March 31, 2005.

In fiscal 2004, this service will cover parts of Tokyo, Kanagawa prefecture, Saitama prefecture and Chiba prefecture.
Coverage will gradually be extended to other areas.

Those interested may apply at DION's website, and may also apply by visiting a store offering KDDI Hikari Plus or calling a KDDI Customer Service Center at 0077-7168.
