KDDI Announces New Advanced au Handset Lineup, New "EZ-TV", "Song Search", and "Safe Navi" Services

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to announce the W32SA (Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.), W31CA (Casio Computer Co., Ltd.), W31T (Toshiba Corporation), A5511T (Toshiba Corporation), and A5512CA (Casio Computer Co., Ltd.) au handset series. The series will launch in successive releases from mid-June, along with the "EZ-TV", "Song Search", and "Safe Navi" services.
"EZ-TV", which combines the ability to view terrestrial analog TV broadcasts with communications capabilities, enabling users to enjoy interactive TV features, such as downloading background music from TV programs as Chaku-Uta Full content while viewing.
"Song Search" enables track titles to be easily obtained from music content and TV background music, downloaded as EZ Chaku-Uta Full content, and purchased on CD.
"Safe Navi" offers advanced GPS capabilities, enabling users to check the location of family members using simple operations, and automatically notifies the user if those people enter (or leave) a specified area.
The new handsets all have cameras in the mega-pixel or higher class, and a substantially increased upper limit on file size that can be mailed. The five handsets include models with PC Site Viewer, which has become even more convenient through a flat-rate option, as well as Japan's first (as of May 2005) cell-phone with an FM transmitter, enabling EZ Chaku-Uta Full music downloads to be played on car stereos and other systems.
The variety of special features across the new series will enable any customer to choose a handset in line with their individual lifestyle.
