KDDI Announces Start of Emergency BBS Free Trial Service and Provision of English Version

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to announce a free trial Emergency BBS (bulletin board service) Service for au cell-phones will be available nationwide on the 1st of every month except January, from 2 am to 11 pm. The Emergency BBS service will itself be available in in EZweb, the Internet access service for au cell-phones, from Monday, August 8. The monthly free service will enable customers to try the Emergency BBS, so they can understand in advance what it offers and how it works.

The Emergency BBS for au cell-phones, as well as working in combination with the emergency BBS also provided in EZweb by the Tu-Ka Group, links to and from the i-mode [1] Emergency BBS provided by NTT DoCoMo and the Emergency BBS provided by Vodafone Japan. Because a trial service for each company's emergency BBS will also be available on the first of each month during the same hours, customers can also try checking safety-related information for users of other companies' cell-phones.

The Emergency BBS Free Trial Service will enable customers to register and view safety-related information, though the capability to inform designated friends and relatives by e-mail is reserved for customers have registered with the BBS.

An English version of the Emergency BBS will be available from Thursday, July 14, as an enhanced convenience for au customers.
