KDDI Announces Start of International Data Roaming Service in Guam and Saipan

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to announce the November 1st launch of GLOBAL PASSPORT data roaming services in Guam and Saipan. GLOBAL PASSPORT is an international roaming service that enables au handsets used in Japan to be utilized overseas without modification.
Guam and Saipan, following Korea and China, Thailand, Taiwan, is the six countries or regions outside Japan where "GLOBAL PASSPORT" data roaming services for au are available. International voice roaming services are available in a total of 17 countries and regions worldwide.
Customers using the A5514SA and A5505SA handsets, manufactured by Sanyo Electric and compatible with the data roaming service, will be able to exchange e-mail and access the Web, in addition to the current voice-call service in Saipan and Guam without applying in advance.
The data roaming service is also scheduled to become available in countries other than where the GLOBAL PASSPORT voice-call service is presently provided. KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will continue working to make au phones even more convenient for use overseas.
