KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to introduce a TV phone service from December 2006 that allows users to make calls to models of other cellular providers as well as a group TV phone service, enabling up to 5 people to converse at the same time using au-capable models.
The sending and receiving of high-quality moving images using the TV phone service and group TV phone service is achieved by the use of high data-transmission download speeds of 3.1Mbps and upload speeds of 1.8Mbps together with EV-DO Rev. A equipped with packet delay control function. The services will be available nationwide in the area currently served by CDMA 2000 1x EV-DO, but in the EV-DO Rev. A area users will enjoy smoother moving images.
