2006/10/30

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular announced today that the number of subscribers to au cell-phones using Mobile Number Portability (MNP), which commenced on October 24, exceeded 100,000 on October 29.

KDDI's extensive line-up of au cell-phones can connect to a highly reliable high-speed 3G network from anywhere. Besides outstanding design, they are equipped with audio-visual functionality allowing users to enjoy both music and "One Seg" broadcast, as well as boasting secure and convenient GPS capability. Also, au cell-phones offer rich and unique content such as LISMO and EZ Channel (audio and video service), EZ Navi Walk, and Google search engine. KDDI has also introduced easy-to-understand charge plans such as My Plan Discount, Indefinite-Period Carry Over and Double Flat Rates.

KDDI thus provides comprehensive services that bring the ultimate in satisfaction to customers. It also provides support to make MNP simpler through services such as a notification mail of new e-mail address sent to registered addresses, and a service to copy a portion of the memory of other companies' cell-phones onto au cell-phones. These and other services have brought about high expectations towards au cell-phones.

Number of Subscribers Using MNP (As of October 29)
Migrants to au cell-phones (port-in)
101,200 subs.
Migrants from au cell-phones (port-out)
20,600 subs.

MNP procedures were ceased due to system process delay disturbance at SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp., and this had an effect on the above results.
