25 May, 2009

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will start offering 'Wi-Fi WIN', a service which enables Internet connections including EZweb, via wireless LAN and fixed broadband lines. 'Wi-Fi WAN' comes at the same time as the sale of the applicable 'biblio' as produced by TOSHIBA CORPORATION.

'Wi-Fi WIN' is a service which supports wireless LAN specifications peaking at 54 Mbps [1], and enables the use of 'EZweb' and 'PC site viewer' by connecting the au cellular phone to a wireless LAN.

As well as viewing your usual websites, the service also facilitates your data downloads. You can easily enjoy high-volume content, e.g. from 'LISMO Video', without using a PC and watch videos such as 'YouTube™' in Flash Video format. When you use packet communication via the wireless LAN, you can do so with no communication fee.

  • [1] Supports the IEEE 802.11b/g standard. The peak 54 Mbps date is the largest value from a technical perspective and not representative of the actual use speed. The actual communication speed varies depending on the communication environment and so on.
