Launching "Skype au" on au Android smartphones

KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company today announced to start offering "Skype au" service that allows voice calls and instant messaging on au smartphones featuring Android OS at the same time as the release of "IS03."

Through the joint venture with Skype, KDDI has developed "Skype au," an application specialized for au smartphones, to be preinstalled on models starting from "IS03." With the application, customers can enjoy not only Skype-to-Skype voice calls, but also instant messaging (chat) and international calls.

"Skype au" uses au's mobile phone network, enabling customers to enjoy stable voice calls with Skype users around the world with the quality and easy usage of mobile phones.

To allow as many smartphone users experience "Skype au," we will offer all voice calls using this application to Skype users, including those of "Skype au," free of charge until Wednesday, November 30, 2011 [1].
