The first of its kind in the industry, "Gakuwari" student discount is a service exclusively for students, offering substantial reductions on both basic charges and dialing charges; "Gakuwari" offers a 50% discount on basic usage charges and up to 50% discount on dialing charges.

Ahead of the Kanto and Chubu regions, the service is to be launched in the au Group's (eight cellular companies) sectors of Kansai, Kyushu, Chugoku, Tohoku, Hokkaido, Hokuriku, Shikoku, and Okinawa as of November 1. This Kanto/Chubu extension of the service will allow applications to be made for "Gakuwari" anywhere nationwide.
