KDDI Concludes Memorandum of Understanding on International Roaming
Service With Unit of China United Telecommunications Corp (China Unicom)

Hong Kong, June 14, 2001 - KDDI concluded today a memorandum of understanding on international roaming for CDMA cellular phone services with China Unicom's network construction and management unit, Unicom Horizon Mobile Communications Co.,Ltd.

China Unicom and KDDI the only telecommunications companies to offer total services for cell phones, inter-city, long distance, international and IP services in their market.

On June 5 in Beijing, China Unicom and KDDI concluded a memorandum of understanding to study ways to cooperate in the areas of technology and operations. They also confirmed that they will actively consider working together in the field of telecommunications and in particular the fast-growing field of mobile communications.

Based on today's memorandum, the two companies will proceed with detailed discussions so as to rapidly adopt the international roaming service between China and Japan.
