KDDI DION Service Users Exceed 2 Million

Tokyo, August 20, 2001 - KDDI Corp. is pleased to announce that users of its DION internet access service users topped 2 million.

Introduced in November 1997, KDDI offers a variety of DION pricing options, like the 'Komi-Komi Course,' Japan's first fixed price internet connection service which combines the dial-up fee and telephone bill, and the multiple access 'Bari-Bari Course', and succeeded in broadening the appeal of the service.

From January 1, 2001, KDDI began to focus on broadband services, setting up 'Broadband DION,' which offers fast internet connections across ADSL service and FTTH service.

From August 9th, KDDI will offer the 'Komi-Komi Course Petit-Light' to Dialup customers with low monthly usage rates and from September 1 KDDI will cut the price of the ADSL service.

These additional services and price reductions show KDDI's commitment to deliver enriching and fulfilling services that meet all of the wide-ranging needs of its customers.

The completeness of services and content, ease of connection and total service that are offered as a part of 'DION' services means that KDDI is confident DION users will exceed 2.5 million by the end of 2001.

* 'DION' includes 'dialup', NEWEB and 'Broadband DION' series customers.
