Establishment of Chinese Local Operation




KDDI Corporation and Toyota Tsusho Corporation today signed the contract for establishing the amalgamated company in Peoples Republic of China. The firm is to be called the KDDI China Corporation, and is to be based in Beijing.

China is anticipated to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), which is expected to lead to the opening up of China's telecommunication market, into which Japanese and foreign companies will be advancing. With KDDI's superior telecommunication technology and service, and Toyota Tsusho's strong sales network, this amalgamated company will provide various solution services such as network construction consulting, maintenance, housing service, and will promote active development of KDDI group's operations in the Chinese market.

Initial capital will be 200 million yen, of which 80 percent is to be contributed by KDDI, and 20 percent by Toyota Tsusho. The company is expected to be established by November 2001, with the current general manager of KDDI Beijing, Michiyuki Kawanishi, to be installed as president. The basic nature of business will involve sales support and network support of the KDDI group, consulting and maintenance on company communication, and housing services in cooperation with the local office.
