KDDI Signs Memorandum with Regional Chinese Telecom Companies |
KDDI has signed a new business exchange memorandum with three regional Chinese telecom companies: Beijing Telecom Corporation, Shanghai Telecom Corporation and Guangdong Telecom Corporation.
The memorandum contains details pertaining to two different types of business exchange agreed upon between KDDI and the abovementioned Chinese companies. The first is comprehensive exchange relating to operations, technology, marketing and other areas relevant to the telecommunications business. The second is the annual exchange of management staff to discuss important matters of mutual interest. KDDI's interest in exchange of this nature has been spurred on by China's acceptance into the WTO and the loosening of restrictions on foreign investments in the three urban centers of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong. Forging ties of a more strategic nature with regional companies in these areas is KDDI's objective in this new initiative. By forming alliances with the regional companies who own the telephone networks in these three major cities, KDDI aims to offer high-quality communications services to Japanese companies operating in China. An ever-increasing number of Japanese corporations are developing business in China, and KDDI aims to tap into the opportunities this trend provides, particularly those offered by demand for data center and IP services.
