KDDI and Okinawa Cellular to Terminate
PDC Service for au Mobile Phone Users

Tokyo, February 28, 2003 -- KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have submitted to Minister of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications the decision to terminate PDC (Digital) method au mobile phone service as of March 31, 2003.

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have been deploying CDMA mobile phones which are superior in terms of quality and are capable of high speed data communications. that the company has witnessed an attendant drastic decline in the number of PDC users.
In light of these conditions KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have taken the decision to focus management resources on expanding and improving the array of quality CDMA products and services.

The companies have offered PDC-method mobile phone services since April 1994. Following last June's announcement to customers of original plans to stop the PDC service, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have been busy helping au users to convert to CDMA. Following a nearly completely conversion process, the company is now moving into final stages of PDC withdrawal.
