KDD to Open Manila Liaison Office
1996-028December 11, 1996

KDD (Japan's Global Communications) will open KDD Manila Liaison Office in Manila, Philippines on December 16 to improve customer support on international telecommunication services in the country. Due to the expansion of Japanese businesses to the Philippines and an increase in the number of travelers to and from Japan, there has been a remarkable surge in the demand for international telecommunication traffic between the two countries.

KDD Manila Liaison Office will maintain contact with and coordinate activities with the local telecommunication carriers and also collect information on the local market. Such activities of the office will allow KDD to provide customers with international telecommunication needs between Japan and the Philippines with faster and better support and also the best possible means of international telecommunications.

The Philippines' remarkable economic growth in recent years has induced many Japanese companies to boost their business activities in the country. Consequently, the traffic for international direct dial calls from Japan to the Philippines has soared, nearly doubling over the last five years.

The opening of the Manila Liaison Office will increase to 27 the number of overseas cities where KDD has operations. As "KDD Group" working in unison with such subsidiaries as Telecomet and TELEHOUSE, KDD will continue to improve the support system for customers with business concerns abroad.
