KDDI-IP Phone

How to Use

You can continue to use your own phone and NTT phone number.

Just by connecting the IP phone modem (a rental provided by the service provider), IP phone compatible device (provided by NTT East/NTT West), or IP phone adaptor (a rental provided by KDDI) to your current phone and configuring it, you will be ready to use the IP phone service.

About the IP phone compatible device (provided by NTT East/NTT West) and the IP phone adaptor

For FLETS, you can use either the IP phone compatible device (provided by NTT East/NTT West) or the IP phone adaptor (rental provided by KDDI).

Using the IP phone compatible device (provided by NTT East/NTT West)

How to place a call with the IP phone service

Calls to a KDDI-IP subscriber

  1. Dial the IP phone number starting with "050".
  2. You will hear the beeping sound indicating that a connection is being made.
  3. Your free call has begun.
  • An IP phone number is issued when you subscribe to the KDDI-IP Phone service.

Domestic calls

Dial the callee's number starting with the area code.
After the connecting beeping sound you will hear the ringing sound telling you that you have accessed this service.

  • If you do not dial the area code first, the call dose not access this service (you will know by the absence of the connecting beeping sound that you are not using this service). If you set the area code for your IP phone device (IP phone modem or IP phone adaptor) or IP phone compatible device (provided by NTT East or NTT West), you can use this service for local calls without dialing the area code.

Calls to a mobile phone

Dial the mobile phone number.
After hearing the connecting beeping sound, you will hear the ringing sound telling you that you have accessed this service.

  • When you first dial "0077" before the mobile phone number, the call is still an IP call (the charge is of the IP phone service. Your IP phone number will be shown on the caller ID).

International calls

Dial "010" before the country code.
The connecting beeping sound will tell you that you have accessed this service.

This service is not available for making calls to some countries or regions. Dial "0009" first [1]. The absence of the connecting beeping sound will tell you that the call could not be made using this service.

How to send a fax

When you send a fax, dial "0009" before the callee's phone number [2].
If you have memory dialing set on your current fax machine, change it to

"0009" + area code + phone number

  • [2]
When using an IP phone compatible device (provided by NTT East or NTT West), dial "0000".
  • For technical reasons regarding the IP phone system, KDDI recommends using conventional phones.

How to use phone services other than KDDI-IP Phone

Dial "0009" first [3].
You can use services via the conventional phone system.

Examples:

  • IP phone of a provider other than the partner providers
How to dial: "0009" + "IP phone number (050-xxxx-xxxx)"
  • Calls to a 0077 mobile phone
    How to dial: "0009" + "0077" + "mobile phone number (090/080-xxxx-xxxx)"

  • Calls via the conventional phone system use services that your phone company is providing such as MYLINE and MYLINE PLUS.
Special numbers starting with "1", Toll-free calls, Navi-dial, and Dial Q2 numbers

Dial the callee's number.
If you have a conventional phone service contract with your phone company, your calls are automatically made via your landline.

  • This is not included in the service but you can automatically use the conventional phone service to make a call (the absence of the connecting beeping sound will tell you that the call is not using this service). Please note, however, this service is not available if you have not subscribed to the conventional phone service.
