KDDI is ready for you to choose what service suits your purposes and needs.
With a personal call, you can appoint a person you want to talk with, and after calling up your party to the telephone, the operator connects the call for you. No charge will accure until your party comes on the line, and you can cancel the call free of charge if your party is unavailable. Person-to-Person calls are suited to calling a person staying at a hotel, or to people with language difficulty.

Charges are counted by adding a basic charge for the first three minutes of use and a per-minute charge for each additional minute.
You can request a station-to-station call telling the operator only your party's telephone number, and the operator connects your call. Station-to-station calls are best suited when you are ready to talk with anyone who has answered the call.

When calling from a green colored public phone, first put a ten or hundred yen coin, or a telephone card into the slot and then dial. It'll be returned on completion of the call.

The Collect Call is an operator-assisted service in which call charges are reversed to your party. The operator will connect your call after getting your party's acceptance of the charges. The service is convenient when calling your family living overseas, or placing a call from a public phone. The person-to-person call charges of the receiving party's country will apply to the service.
