KDDI introduced au Purchase Program in November 2007 to offer customers a selection of purchase methods. Two methods are available, the Full Support Course, in which au supports part of the mobile phone purchase price with a two-year user commitment, and the Simple Course, in which monthly basic charges and calling fees are kept low. In June 2008, KDDI renovated its Simple Course rate plans, introducing seven new plans that eliminate waste, provide greater savings, and are easier to use. Furthermore, when users purchase an au mobile phone through the Simple Course, they can still pay all at once, or in 12 or 24 installments.
