The high-quality IP backbone network that supports "Hikari-One", "KDDI Hikari Direct" and "Metal-plus phone" is the unique Content Delivery Network (CDN) developed by KDDI. KDDI is leading the way in constructing an efficient telecommunications network utilizing IP technology. Existing fixed telephone switches will be replaced with soft switches by the end of fiscal 2007, when KDDI plans to become the first in the world to achieve an all-IP fixed telephone network. In addition to lowering the costs of telecommunications equipment, this will enable call quality equivalent to that of fixed telephone networks, provide greater reliability, and add more value to our services.
KDDI will achieve broadband service compatible with every type of access line.

"HIKARI-one" is KDDI's ultrahigh-speed, ultrahigh-capacity internet service that utilizes optical fiber access lines and KDDI's own high-quality IP network (CDN). In addition to an internet connection service with speeds up to 100 Mbps, phone service with quality, reliability and function equivalent to fixed telephones, video-on-demand (VOD) with attractive content, and multichannel TV service are all provided over a single optical fiber line. Users can combine the various services to suit their needs.

"Movie Splash" Video Delivery Service |

Provided by KDDI, "Movie Splash" is a platform service that utilizes "HIKARI-one" optical fiber lines connected to set-top boxes (STBs) in user homes to deliver diverse video content. Users can select from up to 30 [1] carefullyselected channels as well as about 5,000 [1] video-on-demand (VOD) titles that can be watched at any time, including Hollywood movies, nostalgic animated favorites, and popular Korean dramas. In addition, users can enjoy a karaoke service offering about 4,500 [2] songs on their televisions.
