KDDI Announces Launch of Data Center TELEHOUSE in South Africa <Attachment>

1. Characteristics

Located in the city of Cape Town, South Africa, TELEHOUSE CAPE TOWN is a data center boasting high specs that meet TELEHOUSE global standards, which have received high praise throughout the world. The data center will safely store the ICT assets that are indispensible for its customers' businesses in a perfect environment that is managed through a system that incorporates both surveillance equipment and guards making rounds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Redundant systems are standard for the site infrastructure, and the site is fully equipped with a multiple-route power supply, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and backup generator in case of events such as blackouts. In order to prevent problems, the site also possesses various types of equipment, such as a fire detection system. As a result, the site has even greater capacity to meet needs related to DR [1], BCP [2], and ICT outsourcing, demand for which is growing throughout the world.

  • [1] DR is an acronym for Disaster Recovery and refers to measures to protect data and systems in the case of unexpected problems caused by phenomenon such as earthquakes and fires.

1) Customer equipment is stored in 19-in racks provided by TELEHOUSE, and the racks are equipped with individual locks, cooling fans, and electrical systems.

For customers who demand greater security, we provide space surrounded by a cage.

1) TELEHOUSE provides managed services the included checking the condition of equipment and replacing and managing backup tapes based on instructions from the customer.

2) ICT services
TELEHOUSE acts as a one-stop provider of various services requested by customers.
