KDDI Corporation today announced to start offering "Maitsuki Discount" to customers who purchase new models of au smartphone "IS series." The service, where a fixed amount of discount is subtracted from monthly charge to allow customers to purchase smartphones at a reasonable price, will be offered at the same time as the release of "IS03."

"Maitsuki Discount" is offered to newly joined subscribers and existent subscribers who purchased "IS series" under Simple Course and subscribe to "IS Flat," a packet flat-rate service,[1] or "Double-Teigaku." Fixed amount of discount is subtracted from the customers’ total monthly usage fees for the maximum of 24 months. The amount of discount varies according to the model purchased. In the case of "IS03," "Maitsuki Discount" is planned to be 1,500 yen (including tax) per month. It makes the maximum amount of "Maitsuki Discount" to total 36,000 yen, allowing customers to purchase "IS03" at a reasonable price.

Details are as follows.

1. Customers subject to the discount

Newly joined subscribers and existent subscribers who purchase new models of "IS series" under "Simple Course" and subscribe to "IS Flat"[1] or "Double-Teigaku."

• * The discount will not apply to "IS01" and "IS02."
• * The discount will not apply to customers who made a purchase with "Security Service for Loss or Theft" or customers who made a purchase separately prior to the application for the discount.
• * The discount will not apply to purchases in the Okinawa area.
• * There may be a case where the discount does not apply along with other campaigns.

2. Service start date

At the same time as the release of "IS03" (after late November, 2010)

3. Discount amount

Decided separately according to the model. In the case of "IS03," it is planned to be 1,500 yen (including tax) per month.

4. Duration of discount

Purchase month is regarded as the first month and the discount will apply for the maximum of 24 months.

• * Should subscriber upgrade handset, suspend subscription temporarily, or cancel contract while "Maitsuki Discount" is in effect, the discount will apply only through the month before change.
• * Should subscriber end subscription of "IS Flat" or "Double-Teigaku," "Maitsuki Discount" will apply only through month before change.

5. Fees subject to discount

Discount will be subtracted from the total amount of basic charge, domestic call charge, domestic communication charge and optional charge (excluding Keitai Guarantee Service monthly fee), after application of various discount services. If the total amount subject to discount does not reach the discount amount, the total amount subject to discount will be the maximum discount of the month.
