KDD to Reduce International Direct Dialling Rates
from Cellular Phones and PHS

KDD submitted a notification to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications today to reduce rates for IDD (International Direct Dialling) calls from cellular phones and PHS, in their increasing utilisation. New rates are to be brought into effect on December 20.

This reduction applies to all countries and regions where IDD service is provided by KDD (231 countries and regions) with the average rate of reduction at 12 %. The maximum reduction in terms of country/region and hours is 27 % (for a 3-minute call from a cellular phone to the U.S.A., during the discount hours).
For example, the rate for a 3-minute cellular phone call to the U.S.A. during the standard hours will drop from 480 yen to 380 yen, during the economy hours from 420 yen to 370 yen, and during the discount hours from 300 yen to 220 yen. The rates will go down even further with the "KDD Talk & Save Pack" with the new rates being 342 yen and 165 yen respectively.

Moreover, rates will undergo significant reductions for areas with heavier traffic other than the U.S.A., including Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Australia, Singapore, the U.K., Germany and France.
