KDDI Starts JavaTM- based "ezplus" Service and Plans Release of Corresponding Handsets.

Service offers 32 contents and 92 applications on 50 kilobytes, the industry's largest

KDDI and the au group announced that from July 4, they will start a new service for their wireless Internet service called "ezplus", which will run on Java*1-based technology. KDDI will also release two new handsets; the C451H by HITACHI and the C452CA by CASHIO, both of which will have APLIX Corporation's Java-enabled "JBlend"*2 environment, and will run the "ezplus" service.

By using OMRON Corporation's mobile agent function "Jumon", and by being capable of running rich 50KB applications, the industry's largest, KDDI and the au Group's ezplus service will offer whole new styles for using cell phones.
