Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company

2006/06/27

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to announce the launch of their "GLOBAL PASSPORT" international roaming service, which enables au mobile handsets used in Japan to be used without modification overseas, in India and Jamaica. Voice roaming service will be available from June 30 with the cooperation of India's Reliance Infocomm Limited. and Jamaica's Oceanic Digital Jamaica Limited.

"GLOBAL PASSPORT" does not require any special sign-up or optional fees, and users overseas will be able to use the same au mobile handset and mobile phone number they use in Japan. With the launch of service in India and Jamaica, "GLOBAL PASSPORT" will now be available in 20 countries and regions including China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and the U.S.

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are also making arrangements with CDMA carriers in other countries to provide "GLOBAL PASSPORT", so the overseas usable area for au handsets will grow further.
