KDDI Corporation
Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company

2006/07/31

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to announce the provision of the Global Passport international roaming service, which enables au mobile handsets used in Japan to be used without modification overseas, in Vietnam and Peru. Voice roaming service will be available from August 3 with the cooperation of Reliance CDMA Mobile Phone Center ('S-Telecom') in Vietnam and Telefonica Moviles S.A. ('Movistar in Peru'), in service areas currently covered by those companies.

Global Passport does not require any special sign-up or option fees, and users overseas will be able to use the same au mobile handset and phone number they use in Japan. With the launch of service in India and Jamaica, Global Passport will now be available in 22 countries including China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and the U.S.

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are also making arrangements with CDMA carriers in other countries to provide Global Passport in order to continuously expand the overseas service area for au mobiles.
