KDDI Corporation
Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company

2006/09/11

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to announce the expansion of their "GLOBAL PASSPORT" international roaming service, which enables au mobile handsets used in Japan to be used without modification overseas, to the island of Bali in Indonesia. Voice roaming service has been available in Jakarta, Surabaya, and other major cities on the island of Java, and on the island of Madura, since October 1, 2004, with the cooperation of Indonesia's PT. Mobile-8 Telecom. The same service will be available in Bali beginning on September 13 of this year.

"GLOBAL PASSPORT" does not require any special sign-up or optional fees, and users overseas will be able to use the same au mobile handset and mobile phone number they use in Japan. With the launch of service in Bali, "GLOBAL PASSPORT" will now be available in 22 countries and regions including China, South Korea and the U.S.

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are also making arrangements with CDMA carriers in other countries to provide "GLOBAL PASSPORT", so the overseas usable area for au handsets will grow further.
