KDDI invested in Activ8 Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takeshi Osaka; hereinafter: "Activ8"), a metaverse entertainment business operator, through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (operated by Global Brain Corporation; hereinafter "KOIF III"), which aims to incubate new business co-creations with promising venture startups.

With intellectual property (IP) production capabilities optimized for the metaverse era, Activ8 aims to incorporate the world of science fiction into modern society and become a company that fascinates the world in the field of entertainment in the metaverse. In addition, Activ8 previously collaborated with KDDI on the production of the "balallel-meta-Party" held in the "αU metaverse."

Through this investment, KDDI will promote business expansion by leveraging Activ8's 3D live performance planning and development capabilities and collaborating with Activ8 to create joint content for KDDI's "αU live" and "αU metaverse" services.

As "the company that customers feel closest to," KDDI will continue to promote business co-creation through investment in promising startup companies, and create new business models together with customers and partners.
