The opinions we received are as follows.

Ms. Alice Cope

  • It is important to identify risks along the whole value chain, including in deeper tiers of the supply chain below Tier 1.
  • When identifying and assessing the human rights risks of group companies, it is important to take into account the context of, and the companies' activities in, each country.
  • To ensure internal training on business and human rights is effective, it should be tailored to business operations, context and human rights risk profile.

Mr. Hideaki Umetsu, Esq.

  • It is important to prioritize addressing companies with high human rights risks, irrespective of the size or ownership ratio of group companies.
  • Disclosing more specific cases related to improving human rights risks not only makes the outcomes clearer but also conveys KDDI's seriousness to stakeholders.

We have reaffirmed the importance of prioritizing human rights risks and recognizing the significance of effective employee awareness activities and disclosing case studies to enhance the effectiveness of human rights due diligence efforts.
