To contribute to this goal, we are pursuing initiatives such as resource recycling in business operations and supporting the development of circular economies in society and local communities through telecommunications and renewable energy.

To realize a Circular Economy, the KDDI Group has established goals within the framework of the KDDI GREEN PLAN, focusing on both risk reduction and the creation of business opportunities.
To achieve these goals, the Group promotes internal activities and actively supports external initiatives and joins organizations that align with its environmental vision.

Recycling Used Mobile Phones

Used devices are collected at au Style/au Shops and UQ Spots, where components are manually disassembled for recycling.

Reducing Plastic Usage

Plastic usage is being reduced by introducing SIM cards with halved packaging and switching to paper shopping bags at au Style/au Shops and other locations.

Utilizing Biodegradable Plastic Alternatives

Through the KDDI Green Partners Fund, KDDI has invested in and collaborated with Amica Terra, a company developing “modo-cell®,” a biodegradable material made from unused bamboo forests and plant residues.

Demonstrating Horizontal Recycling of Lithium Batteries from Used Mobile Devices

Through the KDDI Green Partners Fund, KDDI has invested in and collaborated with Emulsion Flow Technologies, a company contributing to rare metal recycling.
