KDDI's Approach (Decarbonized society, Carbon neutral, net zero)

The KDDI Group recognizes that it is an important responsibility as a global company to promote global environmental protection so that we can pass on our irreplaceable earth to the next generation, and we will continue our efforts to ensure a prosperous planet for the future.

The KDDI Group aims to achieve carbon neutrality CO2 emissions for Scope 1 and 2 of the entire KDDI Group by fiscal 2030 and net zero including Scope 3 by fiscal 2040.

The roadmap for achieving new targets

KDDI Group Initiatives

To realize a Decarbonized Society, the KDDI Group has established goals within the framework of the KDDI GREEN PLAN, focusing on both risk reduction and the creation of business opportunities.
To achieve these goals, the Group promotes internal activities and actively supports external initiatives and joins organizations that align with its environmental vision.

Sustainable Base Stations Achieving Net-Zero CO2 Emissions 24/7, Year-Round

Since May 2023, KDDI and au Energy & Life have been operating “Sustainable Base Stations” that achieve net-zero CO2 emissions around the clock, 365 days a year.
Japan’s First Base Station Demonstration Using Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells

By utilizing next-generation “perovskite solar cells,” this demonstration promotes the operation of sustainable base stations even in limited space.
Improving the efficiency of radio frequency launch control（1.17MB）PDF

Since October 2023, KDDI has been offering the “KDDI Green Digital Solution” for corporate clients. This service supports the visualization and reduction of CO2 emissions, contributing to the setting of reduction targets and information disclosure across the entire supply chain.
Contributing to CO2 Reduction Through Power Savings Using IoT

KDDI’s energy visualization solution reduces electricity consumption and contributes to CO2 reduction by installing sensors in factories to collect and analyze data.
