KDDI Open Innovation Fund III Invests in Tribeau Inc., Provider of the "Tribeau" App for Aesthetic Medicine Reviews and Reservations

February 1, 2022

KDDI Corporation

KDDI invested in Tribeau Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Mao Di; hereinafter: "Tribeau"), the provider of the "Tribeau" review and reservation app for aesthetic medical services, through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (operated by Global Brain Corporation; hereinafter "KOIF III"), which aims to incubate new business co-creations with promising venture startups.

As the No. 1 [Jump to the applicable section1] aesthetic medicine-related app in terms of the number of users in Japan, "Tribeau" provides reliable information and customer reviews. With access to more than 550,000 before/after photographs provided by users to show treatment results, as well as over 20,000 testimonial reviews, app users can find the treatments and doctors that best suit their circumstances, and they can make reservations through the chat feature. The "Tribeau" app also helps users navigate the often difficult-to-understand market prices and receive aesthetic treatments at reasonable prices. For example, users can earn points for discounts on future treatments by making reservations and treatments through the app, and they can compare prices between clinics and view information on opportunities to participate in trials as a monitoring subject.

KDDI made the decision to invest in Tribeau based on the growth potential of the aesthetic medicine field, and on the potential of Tribeau's user-first approach of providing essential information to people considering aesthetic treatments, such as real reviews and treatment information from actual customers. Through this investment, KDDI will provide various assets which it possesses to support Tribeau's customer base expansion and business growth.

As "the company that customers feel closest to," KDDI will continue to promote business co-creation through investment in promising startup companies, and create new business models together with customers and partners.
